A meaningful number of buyers are still being quoted an older SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card rated around 95 MB/s — a previous generation, not what’s currently on our shelf. Our current stock splits two ways:

• Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I — 200 MB/s read / 140 MB/s write. Right for drones, action cameras, and dashcams, where the card slot is physically microSD regardless of resolution.
• Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 — 300 MB/s read / 260 MB/s write, sustaining a minimum 90 MB/s write. Needed for 4K and 6K ProRes recording on hybrid cameras like the Canon R5C or Panasonic GH7, where a slower card risks a mid-take recording stutter.
• Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II V60 — same card family, 60 MB/s minimum sustained write. Enough for 4K H.265, where V90 would be overprovisioned spend.

If your camera’s manual specifies a UHS speed class or a video speed class (V60/V90), match that number rather than assuming “Extreme PRO” alone tells you the speed — the name covers multiple physical formats and speed grades.

PRO-CINEMA CFexpress for cinema cameras

PRO-CINEMA is SanDisk’s CFexpress Type B line, built for RED, ARRI, and Sony VENICE — the same CFexpress Type B slot used by Canon R5, Sony A1, and Nikon Z9 for stills and hybrid work, covered in depth in our Lexar CFexpress buying guide. PRO-CINEMA sustains 1,400 MB/s, enough for most REDCODE ratios at 16:1 and below. For uncompressed REDCODE or the highest data rates, Lexar’s Diamond Series CFexpress runs a higher 1,700 MB/s ceiling — worth comparing side by side if the project calls for it.

Beyond cards: SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD and PRO-G40

Card capacity runs out fast on a multi-day shoot, which is where SanDisk’s external SSD range comes in:

For most working photographers either brand covers the job; the decision usually comes down to what your camera body or production already standardized on.
