Hard drives still anchor most UAE storage deployments. NAS arrays, surveillance NVRs, hyperscale cold-archive shelves, and backup target volumes all run on platters — the cost-per-terabyte is unmatched until SSD pricing closes another 30%.

We hold rotating stock across the three credible NAS lines (Seagate IronWolf Pro, WD Red Pro, Toshiba N300 Pro), the enterprise capacity tier (Exos, Gold, MG10), and the surveillance lines (SkyHawk AI, Purple Pro, S300). CMR-only is the default for any RAID 5/6/10 deployment — we never quote SMR for multi-bay arrays.

    Match the workload tier

    NAS rated for the bay count (single-user, 8-bay, 24-bay, hyperscale). Enterprise rated for 24/7 sustained write. Surveillance rated for 64+ camera streams with AI analytics. Mismatched tiers void warranty.

  2. 02

    CMR over SMR for RAID

    SMR (shingled) drives stall on sustained writes and break RAID rebuild times. Specify CMR-only on every RAID 5/6/10 quote. Use SMR only on single-user backup or cold-archive workloads.

  3. 03

    Helium-sealed at scale

    Above 12TB, helium-filled enclosures keep the platters cool and quiet. All three brands ship helium SKUs above the threshold. Specify the helium SKU explicitly when uniformity matters in a rack.

    Warranty path matters in UAE

    Brand RMA networks vary. We handle the paperwork through our Bur Dubai office regardless of brand — typical turnaround is 7–14 business days for in-warranty replacement.

  • Both are CMR, 7200 RPM, 5-year warranty, 300TB/yr workload rated. We see roughly identical AFR in our installed base. Pick on price-per-TB at the quote, not on brand bias. For mixed CMR/SMR concerns, only Red Pro is fully CMR — Red without the Pro mixes SMR.

  • Yes if the cameras record 24/7. Consumer drives (Blue, BarraCuda) fail early under the constant write workload. SkyHawk, Purple, or S300 are the right choice — surveillance firmware is tuned for the write-heavy profile.

  • Stocked SKUs ship same business day for orders confirmed before 2pm. Out-of-stock SKUs are 5–10 business days for air freight from Singapore or Amsterdam. We confirm stock visibility on the quote.

  • For orders of 24+ drives, yes. We check firmware revision, run a 24-hour SMART baseline, and confirm health on arrival. Catches the rare batch defect before it reaches the customer's rack. Free service on bulk orders.

  • Technically yes, but it's a support nightmare during RMA and firmware-tuning. We recommend single-brand within a single array. Different arrays in the same NAS chassis (e.g., a primary array and a backup array) can mix brands cleanly.

  • 24TB. Available from Seagate (IronWolf Pro / Exos / SkyHawk) and WD (Red Pro / Gold). Toshiba tops at 22TB currently. Stock varies — confirm at quote time.
